GOLD FOR BEWLEY'S of IRELAND - 11 Medals!
Bewley's has won 11 Gold Medals at the prestigious International Great Taste Awards 2012. For the fifth year running, Bewley's Teas and Coffees have achieved international recognition by the Guild of Fine Foods for its coffee and tea. The 11 Gold Stars awarded to Bewley's confirm what Irish consumers have known for generations - that Bewley's products are of the highest quality. As a founding member of the Love Irish Food campaign, we are very proud that all of our award-winning coffee and tea products are made in Dublin. Among the award winners were Bewley's Special Blend Fairtrade Tea, Bewley's Irish Breakfast Blend, and Bewley's Decaf Blend.
The Great Taste Awards, organized by the Guild of Fine Foods, are the acknowledged benchmark of speciality food and drink. They have been described as 'the Oscars' of the food world and the 'epicurean equivalent of the Booker Prize'.
All products are judged by at least three different judging panels. All the tasting is blind and the judges are fine food retailers, chefs, restaurant critics, food writers and other industry experts.
Bewley's is a much loved, iconic Irish brand with a rich history and world class coffee and tea expertise. It all began in 1835 when Charles Bewley shipped 2,099 chests of tea directly from China. In daring to be so bold, he signaled the end of the East India Tea Company's monopoly and changed the taste of a nation. Following this Bewley's was officially founded in 1840 and expanded into coffee, first as merchants, then opening their immensely popular and world famous Grafton Street Café in Dublin. Today, Bewley's is Ireland's largest coffee company.
